  • OUR STORY

    Humans of Purpose Academy, formerly Banksia Academy, was founded by Melanie Greblo in 2022 who combined her 20+ career in social impact and lived experience to bridge a gap in support for vulnerable women and non-binary people, especially survivors of domestic and family violence. The recovery and rebuilding road is long - we back survivors until they can back themselves again.

    Founded on the belief in survivors’ inherent resilience, strength and courage, the Academy has become a haven for women and non-binary people to both envision a bright future and take the courageous steps towards making that future a reality - for them and their families.

    We meet participants where they are and through a deeply aspirational approach, harness their capacity to dream again to create the future they deserve. We draw on the strengths of women and non-binary people to #backherfuture - and wrap the required supports around them to truly thrive.

    Women and non-binary people with lived experience of domestic and family violence face barriers to safe, flexible and secure career opportunities.

    This can lead to isolation and make them and their children vulnerable to returning to violence or to living in poverty.

The Academy was born alongside, Humans of Purpose, our primary employment partner where participants skilled up in the Academy transition into Digital Assistant roles. Humans of Purpose continues to wrap supports around the team, pays 30% above the minimum wage and allows women to work remotely and flexibly.
